Just a few words about the Erasmus Conference,
which took place on Tuesday, 22 January 2008 in the Faculty's lecture halls, and which could was open to all students as well as active co-workers and anybody interested in the Erasmus programme.
The conference was attended by approx. 40 students including presenting international students. This kind of event was held at the faculty for the second time, this year not in the U Vojáka club but in the small lecture hall. Limited catering with non alcoholic drinks cannot compete with the offer of proper beer and liqueurs but a peaceful non smoking place is more suitable for prepared lectures in high quality.
The meeting was opened and chaired by dr. Rudolf Černý, the Erasmus coordinator but the main program was taken care of by our visiting students who presented lots of information about history of their home cities, universities and local study programs. We heard very interesting presentations of universities in Padua, Freiburg, Montpellier, Lodž and Kaunas.
Every speaker tried to present their university in the best possible light so we all witnessed real competition with attraction of well known names fought for example by Lodž and Kaunas colleagues. No doubts that heir presentations supported awareness these places on the academic map of Europe.
We also enjoyed an argument about a leadership of universities in Montpellier (founded in 1220) and Padua (founded in 1222), when colleagues from Padova deeply pitted those two lost years...
I believe that another successful part was a discussion of our students (both Czech and international) potentially interested in studies abroad who had a unique opportunity to ask about anything they wanted and receive first hand information.
After 90min filled with interesting presentation and entertaining entries of speakers we all left in a good mood and with lots of new information.
Our thanks are addressed also to a few people who took part in realization and technical support of the conference and for photo documentation which are Jana Ocelková, Josef Hřebík, Jaroslav Frolík and Vlastimil Stárek.
I feel that the event fulfilled the intended purpose and I hope this feeling is not only mine.
If you could not have come to this year Erasmus Conference you are already most welcomed for the next year.
Rudolf Černý, M.D.
The LLP-Erasmus Coordinator
