On the last Tuesday in February the annual meeting of international students and the Dean, Vice-Deans prof. Roman Kodet and doc. Květa Bláhová, and also me, Petra Fabingerová, the Coordinator for International Students, took place. It was nice for us to meet students again. I was pleased to see mainly upper year students, who do not have Czech classes anymore and I am not able to talk to them so often.
At the beginning, the Dean introduced two new student representatives – Catarina Quaresma (4th year), AIMS President, and Silva Rukavina (1st year), member of the academic senate. Both of them are ready to help students and present their ideas, comments and also complaints to the Faculty representatives.
Then the Dean announced the names of those who received the Top 10 per cent International Medical Students Award and Best International Medical Student Award. I was really happy to see that a lot of students from abroad are successful.
Unfortunately some of these students did not attend the meeting and missed the opportunity to enjoy applause from their colleagues.
In the second part of the meeting students had a chance to pose questions to the Dean and Vice-Deans, and to discuss all the problems they have to deal with. We talked about the organization of classes, the request for a student lounge, the problem with lockers in the hospital, etc. In this context, I would like to ask all students to let me (or other Faculty representatives) know about their problems so we can help solve them immediately.
I hope more students will come to next meeting. All students are important to us and we appreciate their opinion and ideas.
