On Fri 10th September 2010, a formal seminar was organised for the 80th birthday of Prof. Josef Koutecky, MD at the large lecture hall. The theme of the first part was Paediatric Oncology, which was founded in Czechoslovakia by Prof. Koutecky in the 1960s. Past and present perspectives of Paediatric Oncology were presented: by Prof. Kodet in the field of pathology; Prof. Snajdauf in surgery; Prof. Eckschlager in science; and Prof. Stary in clinic.
The second part of the laudation was presented by the vice-rector UK, Prof. Skrha, director of Motol University Hospital, Dr Ing. Ludvik, dean of the 2nd faculty of Medicine, Assoc. Prof. Hrusak, and honorary president of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, Prof. Zahradnik. In their speeches, Prof. Koutecky was presented as a university teacher, dean of the 2nd Medical Faculty, vice-Rector of Charles University, populiser and lover-of-art.
After the thanksgiving speeches, participants were given the opportunity to personally congratulate Prof. Koutecky on his jubilee.
