On Tuesday 6 June, the Minister of Health presented the 2021 awards and honourable mentions for medical research and development. The ceremony took place in the Tyrš House. Among the winners are also researchers from the Second Faculty of Medicine, Charles University.
In the category of the Minister of Health's Award for Medical Research and Development, the project New Prognostic and Predictive Indicators for Patients with Mantle Cell Lymphoma in Diagnosis and Course of Treatment was awarded, with participants doc. Eva Froňková and Dr. Michael Svatoň from the Second Faculty of Medicine, the project head is Prof. Pavel Klener from the First Faculty of Medicine, Charles University.
In the same category, also Prof. Přemysl Jiruška was awarded for a project held at the Institute of Physiology of the ASCR and named The importance of functional and structural reorganization of brain networks in the pathogenesis of cognitive deficit and epilepsy after a stroke. Beside Prof. Jiruška, other collaborators also work at the Second Faculty of Medicine: Prof. Petr Marusič and Prof. Jakub Otáhal.
Prof. Zdeněk Sedláček was given by the Minister of Health an honourable mention for medical research and development; his project, implemented at the Second Faculty of Medicine, is called Analysis of genetic variants associated with mental retardation and autism spectrum disorders using new generation sequencing. The collaborators are Dr. Miroslava Hančárová, Dr. Šárka Bendová, Dr. Darina Prchalová and Dr. Viktor Stránecký.
An honourable mention was also given to the project Role of HSP90 (Heat Shock Protein 90) in selected rheumatic diseases under the leadership of doc. Michal Tomčík from the Institute of Rheumatology. The co-researchers include prof. Josef Zámečník.
