Professor Marek Babjuk to Become New Dean of the Second Faculty of Medicine

Professor Marek Babjuk has been elected Dean of the Second Faculty of Medicine by the Academic Senate of the Second Faculty of Medicine at its regular meeting today, in the first round of the election. All 24 members of the Academic Senate voted.

Two candidates for the position of Dean were proposed to the Academic Senate: Professor Marek Babjuk, MD, CSc., and Professor Jan Lebl, CSc., FCMA. Professor Babjuk received 19 valid votes in the first round, professor Lebl obtained 5 votes.

The new Dean will be appointed by the Rector of Charles University. The four-year term begins on 1 February 2022.

Professor Marek Babjuk (1961) graduated from the Faculty of General Medicine of Charles University. Since 1994 he had been working as an assistant professor at the First Faculty of Medicine, Charles University. In 2003 he habilitated and in 2009 he was appointed professor. Since the same year he has been the head of the Clinic of Urology of the 2nd Faculty of Medicine, Charles University and the Motol University Hospital.
