The Health Minister Presents Annual Awards and Honorable Mentions

From the Second Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Pavel Kršek received the Health Minister Award and Prof. Jan Lebl and doc. Štěpánka Průhová honorable mentions.


On 12 December, the Health Minister Vlastimil Válek, in the premises of the Baroque Refectory of the Dominican Monastery, awarded scientific personalities for the extraordinary results achieved in projects in the field of applied medical research and development.

As part of health research supported by the Ministry of Health, 84 projects were completed in 2022. The Agency for Health Research of the Czech Republic selected the best of them on the basis of predetermined criteria.

Prof. Pavel Kršek, epileptologist and head of the Department of Pediatric Neurology, received the Health Minister Award for Health Research and Development for the year 2023 for the project Stratification of patients with focal cortical dysplasia to optimize epileptosurgery.

Prof. Jan Lebl, diabetologist and endocrinologist, emeritus head of the Department of Paediatrics, received the Health Minister Honorable Mention for health research and development for the year 2022 for the project Study of etiopathogenesis and optimization of treatment in children with intrauterine growth restriction and postnatal persistent growth failure.

Doc. Štěpánka Průhová, a diabetologist and endocrinologist also from the Department of Paediatrics, received the Health Minister Honorable Mention for the project Genes influencing the function of the beta cell of the pancreas and their importance in the pathogenesis and treatment of monogenic forms of diabetes.
