Recognition of Previously obtained Credits and Passed Examinations
Article I
Introductory Provisions
This Provision establishes the rules of the Second Faculty of Medicine, Charles University (“Second Faculty of Medicine”) for the recognition of previously obtained credits and passed examinations in all types of study programmes except for doctoral programmes of study.
Article II
Conditions for Recognition
1) Individual credits obtained and examinations passed at the Second Faculty of Medicine of Charles University may be recognised if:
a) No more than 10 years have elapsed since the credit was obtained or examination passed as at the date of application;
b) The examination in the subject has not been recognised in the past within the same study programme at the Second Faculty of Medicine, Charles University;
c) The examination was taken while studying in the same or a related programme of study.
2) Individual credits obtained and examinations passed within the same study programme at other universities in the Czech Republic or abroad may be recognised if:
a) No more than 10 years have elapsed since the credit was obtained or examination passed as at the date of application;
b) The examination in the subject has not been recognised in the past within the same study programme at the Second Faculty of Medicine, Charles University;
c) The scope of the course in hours and the number of credits obtained for the completion of the course correspond to 90% of the curriculum of the Second Faculty of Medicine, Charles University;
d) The examination has been graded as excellent or very good.
3) The application for recognition of an examination passed pursuant to Article II, (1) of this Provision shall be considered by the Vice-Dean for Studies. The application for recognition of an examination passed pursuant to Article II, (1) of this Provision shall be considered by the Vice-Dean for Studies after approval by the course sponsor or the teacher responsible for the course of study (the "course supervisor").
4) A student who has been admitted to study on the basis of the admission procedure and subsequently applies for admission to a higher year of study may submit an application for the recognition of the entire year duly completed in a previous study in the same programme and field of study. An application under this paragraph is assessed by the Dean of the Second Faculty of Medicine, Charles University, after a comparison of the curricula and the approval of the Vice-Dean for Studies.
5) Recognition of credit for a course of study that is completed only by credit is the responsibility of the course supervisor. The course supervisor confirms the credit award recognition on the student's application form. On the basis of a confirmed application by the course supervisor, the study department shall make a record of the credit recognition in the Study Information System.
6) The application for recognition of an examination or credit for a course of a given year (for both the winter and summer semesters) must be submitted no later than the end of October of the academic year. The student must submit a separate application for the recognition of each of the study obligations under Article II (1), (2) and (5) of this Provision. The application for recognition under Article II (4) of this Provision must be submitted no later than 5 September before the beginning of the academic year from which the student has been admitted.
Article III
Final Provisions
1) This Provision repeals Dean's Provision No. 15/2021.
2) This Dean’s Provision shall enter into force and effect on the date of the Dean's signature.
