Departmental Focus:
Currently we are focused on the physiology and pathophysiology of circulation in two areas:
- Cardiac tolerance to ischemia of the neonatal heart and its mechanisms
- Cardiac and renal interactions in heart failure pathogenesis
In the recent past was focused on physiology and pathophysiology of the respiratory tract: ventilatory response to hypoxia, control of functional residual lung capacity, changes of activity of CNS due to the control of breathing, the role of lung mast cells in the remodeling of the pulmonary vessels during hypoxia, reactivity of pulmonary vessels, influence of radical injury on pulmonary tissue in pathogenesis of hypoxic pulmonary hypertension.
