The position of ombudsman for international students at the Second Faculty of Medicine
I.
Basic provision
- With this provision the Dean of the Second Faculty of Medicine establishes for students of the General Medicine program in English (henceforth ‘international students’) the position of ombudsman for international students (henceforth ‘ombudsman’), and hereby extends the role of a member of the Dean's Advisory Board – the Coordinator for international students.
II.
Roles and responsibilities of the ombudsman for international students
- The ombudsman will help students to deal with difficult situations and in particular will be available for them at any time when they believe that their rights at the Second Faculty of Medicine have been violated or are at risk.
- The ombudsman will also strive to ensure good communication between representatives of the faculty and international students, and where necessary will facilitate or otherwise contribute to the smooth running of these communications. The ombudsman will gather students' ideas intended for faculty management, and depending on their importance will pass them on to the academic Vice Deans, the Dean, present them at meetings of the Dean's Advisory Board, or act on them independently after consultation with the Vice Deans.
- After consulting academic Vice Deans, the ombudsman has the right to take part in lessons, continual assessment and examination of students, to address heads of departments and clinics and to discuss topics that concern them.
- The ombudsman may participate in meetings concerning international students at Charles University in Prague.
- The ombudsman will always act in accordance with Charles University Code of Study.
III.
Final provisions
- As a member of the Dean's Advisory Board the ombudsman is named by the Dean.
- This Dean's Provision comes into effect on the day it is signed.
