MCAT/USMLE/Residency – Important information about data collection

Data Collection

By accepting admission to the 2nd Faculty of Medicine, students automatically consent to the collection of personal data:
Sec. 600.55(c)(2) of the Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended, requires a foreign graduate medical school to determine the consent requirements for, and require the necessary consents of, all students accepted for admission for whom the school must report to enable the school to comply with the collection and submission requirements in Sec. 600.55(d) for Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) scores, residency placement, U.S. Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) scores, and citizenship rate.

Among other things, this means that all new incoming students who are U.S. citizens, nationals, or eligible permanent residents must submit their scores for the MCAT (or successor examination) and the number of times they have taken the examination. Your scores do not affect 2nd Faculty's decision on your admission, and you are not required to submit MCAT scores prior to receiving a decision on your admission, but you will not be registered as a student if you have not provided this information.

USMLE
The 2nd Faculty of Medicine’s participation in student financial assistance programs authorized by Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended (Title IV, HEA Programs) depends on the success rate of our students who decide to take the USMLE. As such, we are required to submit USMLE scores annually to the U.S. Department of Education.

Students may take the USMLE after completing the theoretical part of the study program. That means during the summer between third and fourth years at the earliest. You will not receive the appropriate confirmation of studies before this time.

Students will be required to complete an ECFMG transcript request form – Medical School Student/Graduate Consent for Release of USMLE Transcript. There is a fee for this transcript that students will be required to pay if they do not have scores released directly to 2nd Faculty. Please do not select the ‘withhold scores’ option when you take the test – that way you will not have to pay for the transcript as your scores will be available to 2nd Faculty online.

U.S. Medical Residency
We are also required to track the percentage of students graduating during the preceding calendar year (including at least all graduates who are U.S. citizens, nationals, or eligible permanent residents) who obtain placement in an accredited U.S. medical residency program. Please inform 2nd Faculty if this applies to your situation.
