Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic
On the vaccination of self-insured students
Following the Decision of the Ministry of Health ref. no. 3804/2010-1/OVZ issued on 22 January, 2010, enjoining the approved vaccination centres to provide with vaccination persons listed in Appendix 2 of the Decision, among others, i.e. students of medical faculties, other university students, as well as secondary school students, including vocational schools, whose curriculum includes training at in-patient healthcare facilities, it has been decided, that in case of foreign students, the chief criterion for getting vaccination against the flu pandemic shall be their status as students, not nationality or even whether they pay for their insurance.
All students who fulfill the said criteria listed in App. 2 of the Decision shall be provided with the Pandemrix vaccine free of charge, should they apply for it.
Concerning the vaccination fees:
- Foreign students who are permanent residents and who pay for their public health insurance, are entitled to healthcare in accordance with the Public Health Insurance Act No. 48/1997 Coll., as amended, covered by the public insurance. The administration of the vaccine for the listed categories of healthcare workers, is covered by health insurance. The vaccine itself is covered by the State.
- Students who are subsidised by the State, in accordance with the Resolution of the Government of the Czech Republic No. 712 issued in 27 June 2007, have their healthcare, incl. the flu shots, covered by the State, or else the Ministry of Health, who directly reimburse the institution that performed the vaccination.
-
In case of foreign students who, in accordance with Act No. 326/1999 Coll. on stay of foreign nationals in the Czech republic, as amended, rely on travel insurance, it depends on whether such vaccination is covered by the terms of the particular insurance policy.
Best regards,
