A group of Second Faculty international students made a trip to Konopiště. Read an essay and watch a video from Keveen de Silva.
Konopiste is a castle with a rich history and fascinating stories. Located amidst an atmosphere of lush green wilderness about 60km Southeast of Prague, this site captures the hearts and minds of all those who visit it with it's charm and undeniable beauty. We started our journey at 9 a.m. at the Hlavni Nadrazi station. It was a really well organized journey which took maximum use of the time available to explore this fascinating castle, it's grounds, George the bear, the animals roaming in the grounds including some beautiful peacocks and the small Czech city of Benesov. Our guide gave us an in-depth account into fascinating history that makes this castle an interesting historical landmark dating all the way back to the 13th century. We had our lunch in the restaurant adjacent to the castle and took some time to stroll the grounds and to take some photographs. At about 6 p.m. we returned back to Prague concluding one well-spent day. A special thank you goes to Petra Fabingerova for organizing this trip in a very methodical manner.
