Aleš Tomek, MD, PhD is a cerebrovascular neurologist and deputy director of the Neurology Department, 2nd Medical Faculty of Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic. He currently serves as a Chairmen of Executive Committee of the Cerebrovascular Board of Czech Neurological Society. Dr. Tomek is also a fellow of the European Stroke Organization.
Dr. Tomek received his MD and PhD at Charles University in Prague. The topic of his PhD thesis was pharmacogenetics of warfarin.
His research interests include cerebrovascular neurology, clinical and research applications of personalized medicine in stroke patients, uncommon causes of stroke especially in younger patients and neurocritical care in acute stroke. In the last 8 years dr. Tomek took part in organization of stroke services in the Czech Republic.
Dr. Tomek has authored and co-authored over 60 peer-reviewed papers, 300 congress presentations, 10 book chapters and three monographs as principal editor.
