This Year's Entrance Examination in Porto Took Place

The Faculty's New Logo and Visual Style Are on the Website

The Second Faculty has a new logo and visual style. On Wednesday 20 April also the Faculty website changed into the new style. The new logo was unveiled by Dean Vladimír Komárek during the opening of the Scientific Conference, and if you would like to learn more, visit Faculty Night in ‘Žížala’ (Plzeňská Campus) on Thursday 21 April after 9 pm: Martina Vitáková, a graphic designer and the co-author of the logo and style, will have a talk (in Czech) about how they originated.

The Legend of the Pelican

Prof. Vladimír Komárek, the Dean of the Second Faculty of Medicine, explains what the pelican symbolizes in the emblem of the faculty. The interview was prepared by Adam Láznička. Anton Vik provided photographs of the dean with the pelican whose care at the Prague Zoo our faculty sponsors. Bára Vakrmanová cooperated in the production. Markéta Tolarová and Květa Janoušková translated the original Czech interview with the dean to English.

This Year's Scientific Conference: 20–21 April

Everybody is welcome to the Scientific Conference and Faculty Night, 20–21 April. The programme is available on the Scientific Conference website. Although most lectures and events are in Czech, it includes a lecture by an outstanding doctor and scientist from Vienna Medical University, Prof. Shahrokh François Shariat, and the scientific part of course features speakers presenting in English. The main Conference events takes place at Great Lecture Hall, the Faculty Night (Thursday night) in Žížala, Plzeňská Campus. For the time of the Conference, all the teaching on Wednesday (from 9 am) and Thursday has been cancelled. To stay updated, follow the Faculty website (Czech page) and Facebook.

Charles University Came Fifth in the Popularity Ranking of European Universities, Based on the Erasmus Program

For foreign university and college students, who have decided to study in the Czech Republic in the Erasmus programme, Charles University is still the most frequent choice. In the academic year 2013–2014, over 1,300 international students uses this program at our university, which makes Charles University the fifth most popular school among several thousands European universities and colleges participating in the program. The Erasmus results were published by the European Commission.
