Courses and Recognition of Learning Obligations

You cannot register via IS for courses designed for PhD students only. Most of the CUNI courses with a code can be searched for in the IS, module “Subjects,” where you can find syllabi and contacts for the responsible person. To register or obtain more information about the course of your interest, please do not hesitate to contact the guarantor of the seminar or use other forms/registration sheets provided – the registration process may differ from course to course. You can find all the study requirements according to each individual SAB on the website. The Academy of Sciences also provides doctoral courses. After completion of courses and seminars, the student is usually granted a “credit” (‘zápočet’); the grade of exams is pass/fail only. Students can re-sit all exams once. The grades/credits are marked in the study credit book (‘index’) – after completion of a course, please send a legible scan (not a phone photo) to your study advisor, who will enter the mark into the IS. This step is necessary for subsequent requirements pairing during the annual assessment. You can check your credits/exam results entered into the IS in the module “Summary of exam results.”

If you have completed any study requirements during the course of your previous doctoral studies (even an unsuccessful one), you can request the recognition of study requirements. Each request is assessed individually by the SAB and depends on the Dean’s decision. Recognition is legally undergirded by the Code of Study and Examination – any requirements whose fulfilment is older than 10 years cannot be recognized, just like any requirements that were completed during Bachelor’s or Master’s study – credits/grades obtained during the undergraduate studies cannot be part of the individual study plan. The State Doctoral Exam cannot be recognized.
